Why shop at a small business?

I started www.tidytoes.co.uk as I could not find suitable clothing for my very active, adventurous, cheeky 3 year old free spirited daughter.

No matter the weather or what she was wearing, if there was water, she wanted to be in it.

Puddle suits I bought just didn't keep her dry, All -in- one suits were heavy, restrictive and not designed for the free movement of her wee body, running, climbing, sitting and jumping.

After a bit of research I discovered Danish award winning childrenswear brand WHEAT, with beautiful, practical, stylish designs that do exactly what I wanted them to do! Keep my daughter dry and warm whilst allowing her to play freely.

I couldn't just sell one brand though, so looked at other brands I have loved for my daughter and myself that were fun, friendly and practical.

I chose to start with 4 brands in total Wheat, MpDenmark, Studionoos and Orangenkinder and I think they each compliment one another.

What did I know about starting a business? Nothing, absolutely zilch!

How to set up a website?, link it to social media?, add pay links?, how to edit stock photos?... its was a whole new world to me.with...

Rejection from other brands as tidytoes was new and very small.

Thankfully, I have two tech savvy older children who did most of the website set up for me as there wasnt enough in the budget to pay a professional.

And, that is what makes tidytoes.co.uk so special, it's been built from love.

As a single (50 year old) Mummy to 3 incredible children aged 23, 21 and 5, I wanted to create a future for myself and my children.

It's been harder than I ever imagined, wondering If I'm doing it all wrong, why I'm not getting enough orders or visitors to the website.
